Eats

Courtesy of LA Observed. Some NY food buffs are in town checking out LAs good food.  The word on In'n'Out:

"Nothing screams Southern California more than a 4 x 4, Animal Style."

Of course these clowns will probably miss Pepe's Pollo, the one place, if forced to choose, I'd eat my last meal. Probably too far inland.

Fullerton Magic1

It's amazing what you see if only you stop to look.

Hedge? Tree?

London plane or maple

Cupressus macrocarpa

Yucca gloriosa

Yale's Christmas lights.

Thanks J|G for the IDs.

1My camera frustrates me. Maybe one day I can do for Fullerton what Dawn does for Chicago.

Geo Failure

It's never surprising but it's always disappointing to hear of America's geographic illiteracy.  Fewer than 8 out of 10 can locate either Iraq or Afghanistan on a map (a very forgiving map1 at that).  Seven out of 10 can't guess, within 100 million or so, how many people are in the US.

How do you stack up2? Take the quiz.

1Most questions allow a correct answer if you know the basic region of a country.
2Happy (relieved?) to report I didn't stumble on any of the questions.
