E-mail publishing no longer viable, use RSS - Chris Pirillo.

(SOURCE:20030811 Lockergnome Windows Daily) via [Roland Tanglao: WebCMS]

Another note for readers who are interested in new models of distribution and enterprise. Roland has a rather long quote on his weblog about this, which I have cut. The point is two-fold. First, if you have a point to make, there is currently no better way to deliver it to a global audience than syndication via RSS. Start doing it now, while only a relatively small number of people are using the medium. In a year, your advantage will be gone. Establish your audience and your reputation now. Second, RSS is the way out of spam hell if you are marketing. Because readers subscribe to RSS feeds, there are no more issues about "is this person an opt-in or not." As Chris says, now the author can control content, and the subscriber can control the subscription. It'll do until something better comes along.

Radio UserLand: The Book.

Rogers Cadenhead posted a new chapter from his upcoming Sam's book on Radio UserLand. He says the book is getting the attention of his publisher because of the number of pre-orders it has received. [Scripting News]

Posting this here in eLearning for two reasons. First, because I think Radio UserLand and RSS 2.0 are incredibly valuable tools for a number of purposes in the eLearning/knowledge management and entrepreneurial worlds. And second because I want to point out the "Ads by Google" on the linked page as an example of a creative way for independent eLearning developers and entrepreneurs to generate a little cash.

Finishing up my tax return always inspires me to look for new ways to generate cash flow ...
