Dave Winer Starts Moderated Mail List for RSS Users.

Over the Christmas holiday I started a new moderated mail list for people who use RSS. It's off to a great start. No flames of course, and lots of good ideas, and a discussion about feeds with excerpts. [Scripting News]

Online Shopper Behavior: They Bought Early This Year.

Verisign: Online Shopping Take Up 22.5 Percent. Transaction services company Verisign reported that sales were up 22.5 percent over the holiday season compared to last year. The number of transactions rose 39 percent. The busiest day came early, on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Internet Retailer reports. Online Shopper Behavior: Becoming more directed?

Study Indicates Online Shoppers Spend More Time Buying, Less Shopping. A DoubleClick study examining spending habits of online purchasers in the third quarter showed that online buyers are becoming more directed in their purchases, spending more time on fewer pages and spending more on fewer transactions relative to the previous quarter. Other interesting tidbits include the fact that the conversion rate of visitors to buyers declined 34 percent while the average transaction amount increased 44 percent. Where Did Consumers Buy Their Holiday Gifts This Year?

E-Commerce Bonanza Comes Mostly at Offline Stores' Expense. The increase in online commerce is draining revenues from bricks and mortar stores, according to a Goldman, Sachs & Co., Harris Interactive and Nielsen/NetRatings study. Their eSpending report showed that about an additional four percent of holiday spending migrated online this year, with three quarters of that taken from store sales and one quarter taken from catalog sales.
