Funding...

Great letter in yesterday's K-W Record from Rick Moffit, local ETFO communications officer. Very clearly explained why funding is such a mess, and laid the blame squarely where it belongs...at the feet of the provincial government. Hard to understand how, when almost every major school board in Ontario publically notes they are considering a deficit or cutting programs, we can be told that funding is greater than ever before.

As it is, funding hasn't even kept up with the cost of living, let alone kept pace the increasing costs of other budget items. How long will people continue to ignore what has become an obvious and desperate problem? Why is it that trustess feel standing up to the government and declaring a deficit budget "isn't in the best interests of the students"? Certainly cutting programs isn't in their best interests either, yet that's the alternative.
