Robert Paterson references an article here and renames it "When Dinosuars Ruled the World".  It's nice to see that G2000 companies see the light as well.  A quote:

The  mainframeers lost all organizational power.  This meant that we could create a PC culture where a risk managment tool could be roughed out in a day. With the IT boys in charge everything was 5 years and 50 million. Now we could have it "our way" in a day."
