We here in Blogland have offered our various positions on whether blog entries should be edited and revised, and each of us has our point of view on the topic. But Andrew Sullivan points out an example of a news organization -- the BBC, in this case -- doing the same thing with one of its news stories, and the impact is rather disquieting. Weblog authors are, after all, amateurs at the job of publishing news and commentary. We tend to expect more of the professionals in the business.
