Life : Items that will only be relevant to people who know me in the real world. All others, you're welcome, but...probably boring.

It's been a good week, professionally. I've been offered three different advisory board positions, two with startups and one with a tech industry giant. Plus, the many threatened consulting projects for Aug-Sept have resolved into at least two that will in fact happen. Getting paid for my time is A Good Thing.

One of the coolest things my mother-in-law did on her recent visit was show up with a bag of books. That's like showing up at the Ford Clinic with a baggie full of white powder. So far, I've discovered (OK, I've been led to) at least three new authors whose writing I like. Tess Gerritsen www.tessgerritsen.com/ , John Lescroart www.johnlescroart.com/ , and the writing team of Michael and Kathleen Gear (unsurprisingly, found at www.gear-gear.com/ ). All three write well, and have written at least one book I enjoyed a lot. Thanks, Helen.

It's hard to believe it's now August. Where did the year go? The seasons sneak up on you in San Diego; the transition from spring to summer is so small as to be unnoticeable. Elsewhere seasonal changes are writ in large, but here it's strictly lowercase.

I think I'll go back to my original plan for this weblog - have two categories, one for work, one for personal/life. Entries typically map into those two, most of the time orthogonally. I wonder how to have one (work) come up as the default main page? More HTML homework...
