Tax Day and Combat
Well, happy tax day. I was pleased this morning to hear on CNN that servicemen and women in combat get an automatic 180 day extention on filing their tax returns, and hazard pay for combat is tax exempt. Add those items to the short list of nice things about our tax system.
I am very glad this war is winding down. Even though the future of the region is not certain and the fighting is definitely not over, I think good will come of it all. I am also glad to see that a large number of Americans genuinely appreciate the service of our men and women in uniform. Even though I have been a civilian for almost two years, I have had several people thank me for my service in the Marines. Nice.
