My Apologies
Some weeks ago I posted a link to a video clip of me goofing around at my desk. This was both poor judgement and poor taste, and I have removed the post from my blog. I sincerely apologize to those that were offended by it. It was a spontaneous moment captured on film, and a friend of mine, as a joke, added text and posted it. I did not instigate the filiming of the clip nor did I have anything to do with posting it online. I linked to it from this blog more as a self-depricating act rather than to make fun of my fellow state employees. No matter how innocent my intentions, it was still a mistake and I am sorry for it.
I would also like to write a word or two about state employees. Having spent time in the Marines and having worked in the private sector, I believe I have a good understanding of work ethic. No one can tell me that state employees do not work hard. I do not accept the "leaning on the shovel" stereotype, and I am sorry that I may have prepetuated it.
Also, I feel terrible that this mistake has cost me my credibility with some of my customers. I can understand why some would not take me seriously after seeing the clip, and I sincerely hope that I will be given another opportunity to earn their trust and confidence.
Finally, I want to make sure that the readers of this blog know that, although the license for this blogging software was purchased by the former CIO's office in an effort to increase communication, my management at ITS had no knowledge of the post in question. This blog is not an ITS-sanctioned site, and the views expressed here are not the views of ITS, they are mine, as are any mistakes. To see my official ITS page, please click here (only state employees can access this page).
Again, my sincerest apologies to those I offended.
