Collaborative content creation

There have been many references to Tim Knip's Interop tool  - a very cool application that uses Web Services to push/pull data to/from Groove to publish blog entries.  The more I thought about this, the more I started to see what could be a paradigm shift with respect to content creation and publication.  Tim demonstrates how to take a personal activity like blogging and shift it into a group activity so that multiple people can contribute.

Think about all of the web designers who work on different parts of web pages, but in the end aggregate all of the parts onto one page.  Typical aggregation occurs by using techniques like emailing the one page with incremental changes between designers or by using server based version control software from which the designers would constantly read/write content.  A similar pattern exists for software developers who work on different components/sections within an application.  I am sure that similar patterns can be found for other activities as well.  The paradigm shift mentioned above could allow for Groove to be used as a staging facility for publication, from which content is read/written by groups of people.

One of the main differences I do see is that blogging is typically a free form activity, while content creation for web pages and software applications typically needs to be governed (hence the popularity of version control software).  This may slow down adoption by companies until a work example of something like workflow or auditing can be demonstrated - I'm sure I'll have more thoughts on this as time passes.
