Effective May 1, 2003, price comparisons which are found on the Internet do not qualify under this program.
I am really bummed about this policy change. I used to have the freedom of buying an item in any store and not be concerned about getting the best price because I would just find a lower price on the internet and have American Express send me a check for the difference. Now they want a newspaper/magazine ad from a brick and mortar store that shows the lower price in order to qualify for their Best Value Guarantee program.
Hmmm....so why do I have an American Express card now? If anyone out there knows of a credit card that allows price matching for internet advertised prices, please let me know.
