I saw this report on 20/20 about a year ago. Surprising result: often the most average face is the most attractive.

The guests on Extreme Makeover are average too - no Joan Rivers clones in that set. The show is careful to pick grounded people who want to fix a specific feature. They end up getting the package deal: nose job, brow lift, porcelan veneers, breast implants/lifts, lipo you name it. What blows me away is how happy the people look at the end of the show. Wouldn't it be wierd to look in the mirror and not recognize the reflection? That hasn't happened yet.
