I played Ultima Online for almost three years. For a while the game was really cool, and I enjoyed playing with some of the people I had met. I then got involved in a program called the "Interest Program." The owners (Origin), gave us a special account, and then we could use that account to create custom content for other players. There were very strict rules about how we were to handle ourselves, and very severe punnishments for breaking those rules.
Well, eventually, they canceled the interest program, and I became disinterested in what they were doing with stories, so I cancled my account, and haven't looked back. What brought this all on? This story on Slashdot.
