This weekend. This weekend was rather busy. Amy's parents where (are..they leave Tuesday) in town. He has another apointment with the eye doctor to see what they can do to help his eyesight. For those who don't know, he was involved in an accident on 1 January 2002 (what a new years gift) on his way to church. He has recovered well since then in all respects except for his eyes, and has been seeing an eye specialist at the University of Utah since. So they are in town for his appointment.

On another front, Adam is now offically crawling. Before now he has been rolling and from there he graduated to what looked like an army crawl. Now, he is up on all fours and moving around. Next...walking.

A few weeks ago Emily, Ben and I picked some of the grapes in our yard (about 5 gal worth actually). Amy and I then washed them and then made some grape jelly and grape juice. Good stuff. Well, I mention that because tonight the plan for Family Home Evening is to talk about Home Production and Storage from the Duties and Blessings of the Priesthood Part A. We've still got a lot of grapes as well as some apples and tomatos that we need to can. Should be a lot of fun.

After all that, Amy and I have our weekly fold-the-laundry-while-watching-tv marathon. We end up watching many of the shows that we taped during the week while folding laundry. Usually that ends up being about six TV programs. Thus the marathon part of it.

That's about all for now...Oh, did I mention that I think I've managed to convince Amy to get certified in SCUBA. Should be fun. First dive should be the first part of November. Fun

Today I read a couple of things that were interesting and thought I'd share a couple of them.

  1. Tracking people via cell phones is a scarry article on what people can do with technology. Basically, people can use the signal from your cell phone to figure out shapes as radio waves come into contact with solid objects. So, using the raido waves you could figure out who was where in a house (eventually) and other things. While it does have some pratical applications, the scarry part is the invasion of privacy it could lead to.
  2. An article on Windows and Linux security was an interesting read. The moral of the story: Stay up to date, no matter what OS you run.
  3. There was an article about the BeOS that was intersting. I like the BeOS, but I've only played with it and QNX Neutrino. I must say, QNX seems to promise a lot of things that interest me more then the BeOS did. Neutrino's problem? I can't get the network to work with my laptop.
  4. Looks like PGP 8.0 will be here soon. Cool, but I'm not willing to risk loosing my data right now, so I'll stick with 7.03 Free. When 8 comes out then I'll move over to it. If you use PGP or GPG, then you may be interested in my public key.
  5. An article about copyright was interesting. I'm still not sure where I sit on that, but I'll say a few words. I think that people should have the right to keep their ideas safe so they can make some money on them, but eventually they should go to the public instead of being used to protect the "propery" of a billion dollar company. Make some new stuff and don't rest on the laurels of a 30 year old piece of work.

'nuff said.
