The person Hopkins played was C.S. Lewis. You know, the guy who wrote The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, among many other books.
There's a great movie called Shadowlands starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger. Hopkins plays a know-it-all philosopher professor, who teaches about courtship and romance and writes kids books. He thinks he's got it covered until Winger comes along. "I like a good fight," says the professor. "That's great," says Winger. "But when's the last time you lost?" Later in the movie he talks about how inquisitive he is, in a boastful way, and she sets him straight. "When was the last time you asked a question you didn't know the answer to?" Learning never stops. People who know all the answers, or pretend to, have simply forgotten to ask questions they don't know the answers to. BTW, it's a beautiful sweet movie, and even though we pity the Hopkins character, in the end he has great courage, and does the right thing. [Scripting News]

Do you remember the game Zork?
Well, I do. It was a great game. Despite what people may think now days, what makes a great game is not the graphics (just look at some of the classic games from the 80s). What makes a great game is the fact that it makes you think and try and solve problems. It could be a 1st person shooter, or it could be chess. The idea is that you are solving problems and trying to progress to the next level of play, or you are just enjoying the fun of solving the problems.
Well, enough of that, what I wanted to talk about was Zork. It was a text based game that described the landscape and the environment. You had to solve puzzles in order to get points and solve the game. Well, I was talking to a guy here at work about those games, and then decided to search the net for them. Guess what! You can download Zork 1-3 for free! Released to the public as well as some intepreters to run the games (I'm using WinFrotz and PalmFrotz). Finally when you have gotten those games and played them, you can check out other games by Infocom
Of course all of this reminds me of another great classic game that is out there for free....Ultima 4.
Go get them and rediscover the magic of those games.
