Finally!!!
What a ride. It looks like I've got things back up and running...at least I checked out the copy of my blog on radio.weblogs.com, and it was all there. It hasn't been updated in I don't know how long....quite a while. Since that time I've been copying and pasting my blogs to my personal website/mirror blog. It is a relief to have it all working again.
So what did I do? Well, I looked at the preferences and changed a couple things, including the Firewall and NAT option (we use NAT here at work), I changed the event logging, and I also changed the name and the description of my blog. I'm not sure which one did the trick, but then my computer got really slow as it published over a month's worth of blogging. Great!!!

Well, after playing with a number of radio settings, I'm going to start a bit of testing to see if there was anything that I did that made a difference.

Well, I posted to the Radio discussion group to see if anybody there could help me with the errors that I've been getting with Radio. I hope somebody responds.

Friday I found a Delux Version of the 1980's box game, Car Wars. I remember designing my car and racing it around trying to blow up my friends cars while living in Stow, MA. I thought that I'd buy it, just to see if it was as fun as I remembered. I'll have to report when I finally get around to playing it.

This weekend Amy and I went shoping for a couple for a few Christmas presents. One of the things that I have been looking for is something that I read about in the Readers Digest: Cariboo.
What is Cariboo? It's a game made by the same people that created Cranium expect that it is for children 3 to 6. My expectation was that it would be a bit challenging for them and make them think. Well, we eventually found a copy of it at Toys R Us, and I read the rules. Not bad. They put three balls into a game board, and then pick cards. Based on what the card says, they then match it with a part of the game board, and "unlock" the part of the board. If the board has one of the balls then they take the ball and put in on another part of the board, and when they find all three balls, then a treasure chest opens. Kind of simple, but still sounds like they might find it interesting.
Having said that, I've heard that Cranium is a really cool game from people as well as reviews that I've seen on the net, and the nice thing is that Toys R Us was selling it for $30, which is $5 less then the MSRP. Nice.
Finally, I found the Cranium website and it looks like they have a total of five different games. Cranium (adults), Cadoo (for ages 7+), Cariboo (ages 3-6), Hoopla (a short 20 min game), and Cosmo (a game for a 5 min break at work). All in all, they look interesting, and I would be interested to see reviews of all of them. I know that almost none of the stores have any thing but Cranium and Cadoo. I was suprsed to find Cariboo at Toys R Us, and wouldn't have a prayer for finding the others.

I'm not sure where my sister gets these things, but considering I'm from Florida, I couldn't help but laugh at this.
Memo from Santa:
I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will no longer serve the States of Georgia, Florida, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, and Arkansas on Christmas Eve.
Due to the overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was renegotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209. As part of the new and better contract, I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies so keep that in mind.
However, I'm certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement, who happens to be my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South Pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls; however, there are a few differences between us.
Differences such as:
- There is no danger of the Grinch stealing your presents from Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleig h and a bumper sticker that reads: "These toys insured by Smith and Wesson."
- Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave an RC cola and pork rinds [or a moon pie] on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn't smoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff though, so please have an empty spit can handy.
- Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flyin' coon dogs instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer one time, and Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's fireplace.
- You won't hear "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner, and Blitzen..." when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead, you'll hear, "On Earnhardt, on Andretti, on Elliott and Petty."
- "Ho, Ho, Ho" has been replaced by "Yee Haw" And you also are likely to hear Bubba's elves respond, "I her'd dat"
- As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus' sleigh does have a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words "Back Off."
- The usual Christmas movie classics such as "Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown in your negotiated viewing area. Instead, you'll see "Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV" featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state patrol cars crashing into each other.
And Finally
- Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd make sure you, the wife, and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put presents under the tree.
