In March 2002 I was honored to receive national recognition by Government Technology Magazine via an award entitled: GT Top 25, Doers, Dreamers and Drivers of Information Technology in Government. I was proud not only to receive the award but to have shared the honor with many others including Governor Mike Leavitt and friends that I have made over the years through my association with the National Electronic Commerce Coordinating Council (NECCC).

Editor and Chief Darby Patterson , in her opening editorial Digital Dreams described the award this way: "This issue of Government Technology honors 25 individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the development of digital government." She concludes: "There is general agreement that digital government is entering a new phase in its evolution. We have passed through the early years of infatuation with technology, made a few costly mistakes and enjoyed some high profile victories. We have learned that technology alone cannot and will not create digital government. The dawn of 2002 finds us still in love with what technology can do for us, but also aware that our relationship with it requires hard work, heavy lifting and continued leadership."
