Om Mani Cappuccino Hum

Coffee

My fiftieth year had come and gone,
I sat, a solitary man,
in a crowded London shop,
an open book and empty cup
on the marble table-top.
While on the shop and street I gazed,
my body of a sudden blazed;
and twenty minutes more or less
it seemed, so great my happiness
that I was blessed and could bless.

-W.B. Yeats, from "Vacillation"

This weekend I will formulate my thoughts for this weblog as a kind of Salon, where we can pull up a table and chair for a virtual cappuccino, or tea made the English way with cream and honey, (and properly boiled water) and share a bit of art, poetry, stories, and "craic" as the Irish say.

I wish I were StarGazing in Ireland tonight.

Wouldn't you like to be here right about now?

The image is a woodcut by the wonderful Irish painter Bob O Cathail. I saw his colorful painting series of Irish musicians, as they were made into quite beautiful greeting cards, sold all over the west coast of Ireland, but especially around Dingle. We'll have to talk about Dingle sometime. Have you been there?
