Existential Therapy
I am currently reading The Gift of Therapy by Irvin D. Yalom, MD. He has a great definition for what he calls existential psychotherapy -'...a dynamic therapeutic approach that focuses on concerns rooted in existence.' I like that. He also considers that the word dynamic here refers to the forces at play in an individual - in his words 'these conflicting forces exist at varying levels of awareness; indeed some are entirely unconscious.' It is refreshing to read of his actual therapy room experiences, as they echo some of my own. As a therapist, I find his words validating, and as a Life Coach, I recognize that it is all a matter of becoming more conscious in the present moment. In the eternal present, there is no past. There may be unconsciousness, the trance of the dreamer, but in reality there is no past .
There is no escape from freedom.
Anyway, I let my words spill into the Great Void of Cyberspace here, and try not to drivel too much. There is enough of that out there.
I have made it a pleasant little habit to check weblogs.com to see the recently updated weblogs. I pick three to look at, and see what is up. Maybe yours wil be next.
