Chicago Teachers' Center Mission Statement
The "Chicago Teachers' Center" (CTC) is an academic unit within the "College of Education" at "Northeastern Illinois University", working to improve urban education in Chicago through collaborative partnerships between the College of Education, schools, community agencies, unions, and businesses. We challenge the educational system to develop diverse cultural programs for teachers and students. Through our implementation strategies, broad array of contacts, and leverage in the funding community, we seek to function as a broker with our networks of schools, bringing together knowledge, people, and resources to facilitate change. Systemic and structural educational change is generated by:
- Increasing student achievement
- Enhancing leadership and organizational capacity through professional development
- Addressing and removing barriers to learning
- Strengthening community involvement in education
We believe that this process of educational change will better prepare students to build a more just and democratic society.
