Got a note from Vince looking for info about PDA's, RadioUsesland, and Wireless access.  It suprized me since it was my first contact via my blog!  :)

I spent some time crafting up an email to him, then realized that if I just sent him the email, he and I would have the data which is the opposite of what blogs are for. Blogs are to share information
So....  I reformatted my email into this post...

Vince,  Thanks for checking in to my ramblings.  I am still learning about RadioUserland and PDA's   I have a PDA from the "office" where I work (State of Mich).  I was a tester for them on PDA's.   We were set to deploy a wireless network when we were reorganized.  What a bummer, we had the PDA's and purchased the  hardware, Cisco I think,  We were only a few weeks from deploying it to our building.
However, the reorg has stopped it while things are "being reviewed".  Now I am concerned we will not be able to move forward now.  Priorties have changed and it may be hard to secure sponsorship to continue.  Plus "statewide secuirty" cops have heard of our proposed deployment.  To them, wireless is a BIG risk so further wireless deployment is at risk. And that doesn't even mention the budget cuts just ahead.  At any rate..  for now I am on hold with wireless, PDA's, and Blogging.

Thas said, I am sorry don't have much news for you but I do have one oddball thing I heard from one of our tech geeks in the office.  When you get your home setup, get one with TWO antenas.  He said they are much better but couldn't explain it in a way that I understood it.  I decided to use his advice by just looking  for 2 antenas!

OK... after crafting this vent, I took a look at your weblog.  Given what I read, I can point you to sites where I KNOW they use a PDA and Radio Userland to blog wirelessly.  Try Phil Windley.  He is the State of Utahs CIO and I have followed his wireless blogging of several conferences.  Here is a link where he discusses some of the issues.   (you may need to scroll down)

There are tons of new PDA's on the market now.  Be sure to shop carefully.

Check out the lines at this morning!  The best deal in town for an iPAQ H3835 Pocket PC is at BestBuy for only $249 after rebate this morning. They opened up at 6am this morning and I was out there with about a thousand of my "closest" friends huddling in the cold waiting for the doors to open. By the time I got in the store there were three people already in line getting setup with their new iPAQ. They all will be coming to next months User Group meeting for a new users training session. I ended up going directly over to CompUSA and Circuit City next for their 7am opening and was met with their  lines. I had some fun showing off the Pocket PC while I was in the stores answering some questions and doing some demos. If you are looking for a T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition you most definitely want to get by the CompUSA. T-Mobile is giving away a 20" color TV along with the rebate price of $399 of a new in-store activation of the device.

Damn!  I was at Best Buy and Comp USA before noon this AM looking for a hard drive and never took a look at the PDA's.

Take a look at this for more on wireless sharing.

Ever heard of  Warchalking???  A very cool concept indeed!

Warchalking is the practice of marking a series of symbols on sidewalks and walls to indicate nearby wireless access. That way, other computer users can pop open their laptops and connect to the Internet wirelessly. It was inspired by the practice of hobos during the Great Depression to use chalk marks to indicate which homes were friendly.  More at http://www.warchalking.org/

Finally,  Here is a site for some education.   And, it is in your hometown so any help will be a local call  http://airshare.org/index.cfm

Good luck.
