Of Topic??  Maybe... Net matchmaking with a real-time twist. If a picture's worth a thousand words, how about a video? A new dating site lets people interact via real-time video in an attempt to attract suitors or meet friends. [CNET News.com]

This dating service - Date.com - uses Macromedia's FlashCom server to implement Videophone flirting.  That's funny - 'cause we've got a client who's doing the same thing! Anyway - this is what Jeremy Allaire has been pushing - so I think this a big win for them.

The reason this is interesting and only a bit off topic is NOT that I am single (I have lady!) it's because this approach uses "desktop tools" to create a space that people (singles) get together and share information (in this cases DIFFERENT information) while seeing and hearing the others.  Kind of a instant video meeting session.  And isn't that just the thing for Collaboration?  Always remember that the "sex industry" often drives new technology.  The growth of VCR's, personal webpages, and webcams are only a few examples.  Stay tuned, and dont blink!  Read more at CNET...

NOTE: Shameless Promo plug ahead! :) A number of years ago I took an class in effective team training.  It learned how to help others make groiup decisions.  The class was fun and it has paid dividends for me over the last few years.  From the Progress Associates site....

Lets face it - most professionals are pretty good individual decision makers. Many team leaders and most teams, however, are often weak when it comes to

making effective and efficient team decisions or running decent meetings. Let us help you and your team learn a much more proactive process for making team decisions in a timely and effective manner. During the first day of this seminar participants learn a specific set of meeting management tools including a tool called, Labeled Decision Making. During the second half of the training participants learn to apply the Labeled Decision Making Tool to some of their real world problems or pending decisions. Sign your team up today to learn this unique and practical team decision making and meeting management process. Call us today at (315) 498-5599. Ask for our specific team decision making packet.

They also have a Creativity in the workplace session that is wonderful.  I recomend them very highly!
