Musings on Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Real World Entrepreneurship
Last week, in a break from the rain here in the mountains of Montana, I got to take in the real rain of Boston. More to the point, I got to visit with some old friends, including George Gendron.
Before taking up his current role as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Clark University, George was Editor-in-Chief of Inc. magazine for about 20 years. Now, as an academic entrepreneur, George is helping to develop a curriculum in real world entrepreneurship at Clark. The nascent program is aimed exclusively at non-business major undergraduates. The idea is to arm such students with the tools that they will need to increases the odds of turning their passion into a livelihood. Consequently, the program will emphasize real world skills (e.g., bootstrapping and rapid learning through experimentation) over the PowerPoint pitch to VCs approach seemingly favored by many an MBA program.
Sounds cool and very worthwhile. I wish George and his colleagues great success.
