Since I introduced the term in 1995, the word Technacy has been adopted by numbers of educators and politicians in Australia. The original articles about technacy, the skills needed in the age of electronic language, are listed here. The original dissertation constrasts oral language, written language and electronic language and identifies how in electronic language the skills of oracy and literacy are combined in a unique way with technical skills to produce the new set of skills people need in the age of electronic language -- technacy. Compare the concept of Technacy with the concept of "Technological Literacy" -- a quite different approach. Here the author does not mean things to do with computers. He means things to do with the broad brush of "TECHNOLOGY" in society, anything from air bags, to airconditioners to computer driven devices. See:
