I finally started to set up INN as planned. It hasn't been a walk in the park: it doesn't work yet. I found two good sources of information on how to set it up. I am making progress but I would like to know where I made a mistake.
A quick verification of the documentation made me find my mistake: In readers.conf, I typed "newsgroup" instead of "newsgroups" for one of my access list.
Restarted INN, worked better, allowed me to post but then didn't want to store... Checked the logs for the error message. A quick search for the error message in Google groups lead me to the right direction: Misconfiguration of my storage.conf file...
Input the recommended changes, restarted INN, same result... Rechecked storage.conf: typo... Again! The same as before! Oh well...
Corrected the typo, tested, victory it works! And I thought it would take me the whole week-end...
Tonight we are visiting a couple of friends before they depart to France on holidays, no hacking then. Tomorrow my wife will be gone around lunch time, I'll try the two Hotmail-to-POP3 gateway I found. I hope to be able to update this blog through a free hotmail account while on the road. I do not want to pay my ISP for another mail account...
