Google Groups can be very good at "complementing" the documentation of a product. I was hacking a FoxPro 2.6 program at work for one of our big customer and I saw an unexpected error message. I looked at the help file and it wasn't clear enough for me. I poped a few keywords into Google Groups, quickly scanned the results returned and found what I needed. I bookmarked the page and paste it URL in a comment line into my code.
What would be really neat would to be able to import Web pages into help files. It would also be a nice way to keep help files up-to-date including users latest tricks. This could be especially enlighting for products with public newsgroups or products with product-specific newsgroup(s) held on the sofware publisher's own NNTP server. Now that most companies use HTML to produce help files I guess it would be possible to implement this with a "quick and dirty" hack. Another project on the "to do" list...
