Chistmas in Little Rock

After just 2 weeks in Seattle, we went to Little Rock for a fun & relaxing 10 days with Alex's family over Christmas and New Year's. Of course everybody got sick again, but we're mostly better now.

We're in corporate housing until the end of February. We've got a nice 3 bedroom condo in downtown Bellevue. We live just a block away from Toys 'R Us and Gabe Knapp!

Lot's to catch up on here... we've moved to Seattle!

Let's see. Since Thanksgiving 2003, we moved up to Seattle the first week of December. All 4 of us got sick. Paola & Kobe got the flu so we postponed flying to Seattle by 1 day. Both kids did really well on the plane and slept most of the way. We spent the first week here getting better. First 2 weeks of work for me were thankfully slow and mostly administrative. There are some really nice things about working for a large company, like $0 copay for all the medicines we've had to get!

We were in Redmond to house hunt the second week of November

Alex, Kobe (our 8-month-old), and I went to Redmond on a househunting trip. Had a great dinner one night with Will Vong from the Tablet PC team and his wife at Anthony's in Kirkland. Headed to lunch with Scoble at Shi Lin. Dinner with Bill Mak from the Tablet team downtown Seattle. Yes, we also spent 2 days with the realtor looking at houses. Saw some beautiful areas. We're still going through a bit of sticker shock from where we're moving from in Austin. We're gonna let it soak in for a bit.

Kobe's crawling!

Time to re-baby proof the house, Kobe started crawling this weekend. It's incredible to see plateaus in development. He also started pulling up on low furniture.

They've progressed pretty far on the house on the left. bricked and roofed. Started 2 directly behind us. poured foundation and art starting to frame.

I've been back in Austin for a few days while Alex and the kids stay this week in Little Rock.The house is really quiet with out them. Alex and I are starting to read "The Purpose Driven Life" and discuss over the phone every couple of days. It has some great reminders in it so far and its good to be able to have some great conversations with her about it. With the 2 kids and work it's hard to have those kinds of talks in the normal course of the day. We've got to set aside the time to do it, though, its well worth the effort!

I've been busy this week trying to help wrap up 2 projects and kick off another at work. So at least I'm able to not feel guilty for bringing work home, but I miss you guys!

For 4 years, we didn' have neighbors in the back of our house. Today they have cleared the trees to start building right behind us. In the past 2 months, the house on the left and 2 across the street from that one have started construction and have been moving rapidly.

Whew! We're back from our whirlwind trip to San Antonio. It's good to be home, travelling with 2 kids is tough. But well worth the trip, we were able to spend time with the Suplees, Caivanos & McKinneys. We also had dinner with Brian & Jennifer tonight when we got back to Austin, but both kids melted down at dinner. Then it was on to a farewell party for Melvin, Josephine & Maliya. What a weekend, we're exhausted.

As you can see here, Alex is blogging! For those who are new to to the idea of weblogging, it's simply an easy way to post thoughts, links, photos or whatever to a website. The idea is that you don't have to be a pro and know how to edit html to update a website and keep family, friends and others updated on your experiences.

We're using a weblogging service called Radio Userland. It's $40/year. I think what got Alex blogging is the ease of which she can make postings to the blog through a program called FMRadio. We use it on top of Radio Userland. It makes posting as easy as writing an email. She just writes, then hits post. That's it. It's also got an integrated News Reader and tabbed Web browser.

I encourage you to give blogging a try for yourself.
