The Tempest
So as my first 'life blog' posting, I'll pretend to be all cultural. :)
Went to see The Tempest tonight at the Old Vic. I haven't seen much Shakespeare at the theatre, but nevertheless, this was easily the best I have seen. All I knew of it was a 10 minute plot synopsis I read on the tube this morning, and that was easily enough to see me through the fantastic performance. Derek Jacobi (who was a face I actually recognised) was especially brilliant.
Not knowing the play, I was really surprised because it doesn't really fit the whole 'tragedy or comedy or history' boxing of Shakespeare plays that I was used to from school. In fact it was a good combination of comedy and drama and might displace 'Macbeth' as my favourite chip off the bard's block.
Might well tempt me to try and do more of this theatre thing...
