Book Reviews
![]() The idea of humans as meme machines was popularized by Susan Blackmore in her book The Meme Machine. However, to me this seems farfetched, and to some extend plainly wrong, when you realize the complexity of the human being as a whole, including the role of emotions and the body memory as well. Perhaps weblogs as a system function like a meme machine. Then humans are the operators of the meme machine. But weblogs currently function poorly: there is too much straight copying, and too little processing of the memes. A further problem is the short attention span in weblogs: many topics appear for only a day or two, and then disappear.
