Canon IXUS 700 seven megapixel digicam: "Before you even think about buying this camera you have to ask yourself one key question: do you really need seven million pixels in a compact digital camera?" [The Register] I have a three year old Ixus 400, and I'm still pleased with it. I agree with the review - having a 7 megapixel resolution would not significantly improve the camera for my purposes.
