There is an active discussion about the fan noise of the new PowerBooks at the discussion forum of Apple support. It seems that some new powerbooks are quite noisy, and the fan runs at the maximum speed all the time. However, some machines are quite quiet. I had a review machine for one week, and it was very quiet, and pleasantly cool also. I'm getting my own PowerBook G4 this week. I hope I'll get one of the silent ones, but who knows.
