[Item Permalink] Producing quality PDF documents with LaTeX -- Comment()
SP commented my entry on quality PDF with LaTeX: "I don't think this survey is exhaustive enough. To begin with - particularly when taking into account the Mac - using pdfTeX is the easiest way to do this, and on the Mac it is mostly the default way anyway. Also, when wanting to generate quality PDF files, there should be some mentioning of the hyperref package, say, that lets you have clickable cross references, PDF table of contents and insert PDF metadata."

I agree, hyperref is an excellent tool. See here for an example of producing a PDF-format book with LaTeX. I have previously been using Acrobat Distiller for making the PDF, but now "ps2pdf" seems to produce almost as good results.
