New Book Slams Linux, Torvalds: "A study challenging the origins of Linux states that the open-source software frequently is taken or adapted from material owned by other companies and individuals. It also directly questions Linus Torvalds' claim to be the inventor of Linux. |...] The information is contained in a book by Kenneth Brown, president the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution." Well, here is a quote from earlier debate: Every now and then, you hear about or read something that forces you to look at things in a new light, to marvel at the goings-on of the Universe. The paper, "Opening the Open Source Debate," written by Kenneth Brown, president of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institute, fails utterly and entirely to accomplish this.It seems that Kenneth Brown wants publicity for his views, which seem to be rather at odds with the open source community.
