It's time to start thinking about how we might grant legal rights to computers: "Thinking about A.I. as a legal matter forces us to confront the indeterminacy of many of our legal thresholds and demarcations. This is both sobering and salutary. If we choose to do so, denying A.I. rights should be an affirmative act. And if we decide to pursue A.I. rights, we should remain aware of the ethical and legal implications of that decision."
