Neanderthal Genome May Be Reconstructed: "German and U.S. scientists have launched a project to reconstruct the Neanderthal genome, the Max-Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology said Wednesday."

I read on my vacation the science fiction books "Darwin's Radio" and "Darwin's Children" by Greg Bear. These were based on speculation about ancient human genes. The truth may be stranger than fiction, perhaps.
