[Item Permalink] PathFinder and Watson: good tools for Mac OS X -- Comment()
I have been using Watson instead of the Sherlock tool for two years. Why did I pay for a tool which is included with Mac OS X in a Apple-provided version? Somehow Watson just works better, and does exactly what I want.

Two days ago I noticed another program which may be of similar quality: PathFinder. I have been using this replacement of Finder for a bit over one day. I feel this is what Finder should be like. However, PathFinder is not for everyone, and may be slow on older machines compared to the Finder included with Panther.

PathFinder is a browser-style tool, not like the Finder in Mac OS 9. For me PathFinder works well, and there are a lot of fine features included. On my PowerBook it works better than on my iBook, because the browser windows work better with larger screens.
