This month two new columns have appeared, and two more are in the pipeline. I wrote a column about the new top-500 list of supercomputers (in Finnish, Huippulaskennan huipulla tuulee). In the other column I discussed the history of the web browser and the current decline (in Finnish, Selaimen nousu ja tuho).

Academics to advise on European research: "Academics from throughout Europe to advise EU commission on which research projects to fund. [...] The members are: [...] Dr Leena Peltonen-Palotie (FI) [...]" [Guardian Unlimited] The well-known Finnish bioscience researcher Leena Peltonen-Palotie is thus now a member of the European research council (ERC). An important responsibility!
