Am back in blighty and just about recovered from JavaOne. I've gotta
say it was one of the most fun JavaOne's I've been to in a while. I spent a large amount of time on the LogicBlaze booth, we had a fun JUGS night talking about ActiveMQ and ServiceMix (presentation here),
we signed up a some great new customers and started some very
interesting partnership discussions with various large vendors (news to
follow real soon I hope!). I was walking from the pavillion one
day and was struggling to get through the huge crowds queueing outside
a session; I was quite surprised by how many people were queuing. When
I finally got past the crowd I realised it was for the Groovy talk - excellent! I heard it went down really well. It seems like many large corporations are figuring out their open source strategy; IBM bought GlueCode, BEA partnered with the Interface21
guys (congrats!), while Sun open sourced pretty much everything they've
got. Its gonna be interesting watching what happens with the other
large software companies, particularly those in the middleware and
integration spaces. With the disruption open source is causing in the
industry, its a great fun time to work in IT :) Its always great
catching up with the usual crowd of folks at the Thirsty Bear or the
Tangosol party - we're blessed with some great folks in the Java
community. On top of all this, Geronimo passed the TCK tests - who-hoo!
