John, Noreen, and I headed over to the west side of Chicago last night to check out the "Taste of Randolph Street":

Organizers charged $10 for admission to the event area, which featured a sound stage and exhibits from local businesses and restaurants.
(I will post pictures later.)
For my money, the best part of the night was all of the dogs that had been brought into the area by their owners. I love dogs. I'm not sure what it is about them but I think they're absolutely hilarious. Last night did not disappoint; I saw and met bulldogs, crosses, great danes, labs, pit bulls, and terriers. And, of course, all of them were simply looking for a pat on the back or a snippet of food, tails waging all the way. Too funny.
My dinner consisted of crab cakes and Miller Lite while John and Noreen ate steak sandwiches and roasted corn. Personally, I don't think you should ever eat roasted corn in public; it is extremely messy and vendors never seem to have enough toothpicks available. Nevertheless, the food was quite good.
Last night reminded me of some of the local events and street parties my friends and I would frequent back in Melbourne. I still miss Australia and attending events such as these here in Chicago are sometimes a bitter-sweet experience. Despite the fact that I'm Canadian and will always consider Canada my home, I can't help but miss being Down Under with my friends.
