Why Do I support Dean for President?
I, perhaps like a number of others, stay independent. That means there are issues on which I may agree with Democrats, Republicans, Green, Libertarian, etc. I do not like to be tied to one doctrine. I believe in fewer government interference, as Republicans often preach. For more than a decade I find that Democrats have reduced government, built a surplus, and opened the borders for immigration and trade. I am thinking should I not now lean to Democrats? But then the PATRIOT Act came about and everyone except the Senator Feingold from Wisconsin, voted for it. Nobody bothered to discuss the merits of it. I have decided that my support will go to the candidate who has voiced opposition to the PATRIOT Act. That leaves Dean and Kucinich. Dean showed that he is innovative and can rouse the downtrodden and voiceless. He has shown that the electronic medium is indeed a powerful mechanism. For these reasons I support Dean.
