Professor's Web posting at center of libel suit. Former student's paper, now taken off Oakland University's site, said a Michigan company "committed crimes," appeals court says. [CNET News.com]
Wow! Student papers posted on University web sites, especially class web sites, also come under scrutiny. Where do we draw the line between academic integrity, freedom and law? Does this mean that case study reports can no longer be posted because they refer to actual firms? One option is to keep class web sites behind strong protection. Do not make pages that contain reports of any kind including discussions away from public access.
