Bill Gates says, "The jobs are there... we are not seeing the pipeline [of talented job applicants] as it used to be...." This in reply to Phillip Bond, undersecretary of technology in the Bush administration, who said there is a sizeable pool of unemployed engineers in the US. Mr. Gates blames the problem on the higher education system, cutback in H1-B, etc.
Shirley Tilghman, president of Princeton University, defended the higher education system. She argued that the problem is with the k-12 system. The K-12 system scares students away from Math and Science!
Now you see, government blames companies, companies blame universities and government, universities blame school systems, government, and public. Who does the public now blame? Of course, those pesky little Indians and Chinese!
