Contradictions!

An interesting two weeks. First I collected enough courage to endure the Associate Dean for Undergraduate interview. Knowing your competition was never my mode of operation; so I did not know that a more experienced, and senior faculty, who also was an ardent supporter was my competition. I decided to go through the interview knowing quite well my chances were negligible. I wanted to be true to myself. I learnt some lessons. Published research is still not believed. Management faculty at Iowa found that monetary rewards outdo other kinds but my audience still didn't believe it. They found that argument "boring." I also found that according to one evaluator I had no respect from a majority of the faculty while another stated that a majority of the faculty respect and appreciate me! This is truly a dialectic faculty! After receiving nomination for innovations in teaching, I found out from another evaluator that I had not been doing anything new recently in the class room! Another pointed out that I have not been a productive researcher when researchers from reputed national institutes from other countries come to work with me and generate new discoveries. It had been a mind boggling set of contradictions!

Mind is such a terrible thing to waste!
