I downloaded the demo for Unreal Tournament 2003 recently.  My initial thoughts on the game:  fun, fast, and the graphics are absolutely gorgeous.  The maps are insanely well laid out, the characters move with a natural, smooth, and slightly cartoon, action movie, style.  The sounds are top notch, though the announcers voice gets on my nerves because he tends to speak too much.  My only real complaint is that it seems to me that the weapons are all heavy damage, slow firing weapons.  They don't seem to have any speed to them.  When you aim at someone, it takes awhile for the weapons to warm up and then fire, and then there is a lag time for them to warm up again.  What this means is that your accuracy is off if you're not used to the weapons and their fire times.  It also makes the sniper weapons harder to use in my opinion.  I would much prefer guns with a semi-automatic feel to them where they fire rapidly and do less damage but require you to reload, a la Half-Life.  Still, the game is REALLY gorgeous and fun to play in spite of the weapons.  And since I'm only playing the demo, I don't know if there are other weapons that come with the full version that address this deficiency.
