The Salesman as Social Pirate. The more I read kuro5hin the more I think it's been taken over by 12 year old idiots.  This article seems to make the claim that sales is nothing more than telemarketing and spam mailers, that the whole endeavor is a waste of social bandwidth.  While I hate salesdroids as much as the next person, and spam and telemarketing even more, I do understand that they exist because the market pays them for what they do.  In other words, spam has to get to an intolerable point before we do something about it.  There are a few thoughtful responses to it, but the majority of these close minded people say things like, "Yeah, I got spam once too.  It sucked."   

My favorite comment in response:

"and your alternative to the salesman would be?

to let the general populace decide what they want and when they want it.....! people would just sit around with their fingers up their own arses."
