Does anyone else find it funny that the same people who preach that abstinence is the only 100% effective method to prevent STDs and pregnancy are typically the same folks who would like to convince you that there is a kind, benevolent God? I find it funny because this kind, benevolent God does things like impregnate virgins to fulfill some aspects of his "master plan." It boggles the mind. If you believe in a supernatural being that has at some point effectively fertilized a virgin then you can no longer believe that abstinence is 100% effective. You might believe it to 99.9999 (ad infinitum)%, but it can NOT be 100% effective. Similarly, you can no longer believe that abstinence is a full-proof measure for protection against STDs. For that matter, it would seem that the concept of an active God would destroy most physical certainties (not spiritual certainties) in the universe.

Bear in mind, I'm not saying anything about my views on these two subjects, but I think it funny that a large portion of the population can walk around with this logical contradiction and not even seek to rectify it. I think at the very least you should move the probabilities of success of abstinence down a little bit if you believe in God.
