One item in this interesting post caught my attention:
1. The PC economics of commodity hardware will come to networking gear.
How doing?
- Intel solidifying it’s lead in design wins here.
- IP Fabrics Alpha to customers in June.
A little while ago, I had posted a small article
about DIY networking using open source components. In that article, I
said that for the high-end, there is no way that open source could
compete with the likes of Cisco. IP Fabrics seems to be very
interesting in this regard. If someone can come up with a cheap
reference platform that would allow hackers to play around with this, I
think my remarks about open source not being able to compete would be
proven wrong.
