Pulse is linking to a story about HIPAA on Medscape (for those of you not keeping up, that's where I work). Now that's cool!

12 Tips for Increasing Your Job Satisfaction. (Via Family Medicine Notes)  Wow! This article in Family Practice Management actually suggests seeking out other doc blogs -- or creating your own -- as a release from the tensions of the day. If that's not a mainstream reference to this new medium, I don't know what is!

Electronic Medical records. Family Medicine Notes with a great inside look at how a real doc evaluates EMR systems for their office. It's sad, and quite a damning statement, that this practice has had to "roll their own" in order to get what they want. My question is this (and I sent it to Jacob, the blogger who posted it): How do the docs interact with that system? Are there PC terminals in every exam room? Handhelds? Do the doctors in his practice find that entering notes or filling out forms in front of a patient is distracting?

I think until we get those questions answered (and I'll post any replies I get), it doesn't matter what teh back end system is. I've seen it time and again. You can create the world's greatest EMR -- or medical website for that matter -- but if it doesn't fit into the workflow of the office, you are doomed.
