WE'RE BACK
Where in heavens name have we been? When your phone company and your ISP can't get their act together and screw up your ISDN connection to the world, well you just fumble along for a while. So I get in there with my poor memory and start messing with all the Airport settings. Before you know it, everyone is pointing fingers and it gets very difficult to find the source of the problem. None of that is fixed and I am back to basic old dialup which works all the time. It is slow but sure.
So how have you been. I am in my 8th day of hard breathing and nose-blowing. At first we thought it was allergy stuff brought on by our visit to HEB foundation camp. But here we are a week later and recovery is in sight but not yet achieved. I had to teach all week, that was fun...
Sydney has found her way to the foot of the bed where she spends a much more restful night then when she is in her kennel. We are whipped and have given in. I don't know if she has Cushings or not; some tests this week leave us not knowing. We were pretty sure now not so sure. The only sure thing is that she is smart enough to get on the bed and stay there. I always said she was one smart dog.
On the stereo: the new Tom Petty album Highway Companion, and it's pretty good - probably four stars - some good rocking numbers and then a bunch of Neil Young type stuff near the end of the album. The rocking stuff is better. He is going to be here for ACL and that is the one day we are going. I also got a couple of albums by a singer/sriter named Mason Jennings out of Minneapolis - more a folk singer than any other genre. I like him a lot. Boneclouds is his new one, but Use Your Voice (2004) is more my style. You can't go wrong with either one.
Kathy and I went to dinner at Margarita's last night on the bike. She suggested it - wow, what a pleasant (I should say PLEASANT) surprise. The bike took about 25 clicks to start - I need a new starter. One of these days it is going to strand me a long way from anywhere. Guess I should get going on getting it replaced. Just bleeding money that's all. The dinner at Margarita's was fabulous - shared fajitas for one, ate our fill and still had meat to bring home. You gotta love it!
Okay, must go and get another cup of coffee and see what the morning weather is like. Been too hot to do anything after 10AM. Another day in the 100's here in Austin TX. Hope it's cooler wherever this finds you. Hey in two months we wll be in the best weather of the year. Check back in October and I will let you know.
Petty and "Flirting With Time" - sweet song! You will hear it on the radio and remember you heard about it here first. RD out for now.
