Hello from the homestead. It has been a rare week where I got to stay in Austin and work on development of new material. It was a welcome change from all the weeks of traveling. The Christmas season is in full swing and I wish I could tell you that all the plans are set and the shopping is history. But no, I cannot say that. If I have learned anything in the last several years it is to not let myself get stressed out about any of that. So what comes and goes, comes and goes.

I did get the beemer started this week and drove it to work on Wednesday, which was the best day this week for riding. I will probably fire it up again today and drive a bit just to keep everything working right. Kath got me a tank bag in October and I have yet to use it. I really need to plan an excursion with my cameras.

I exercised the Rolleiflex in St. Louis. We shot one roll of black and white and one roll of color. I am still working to get a feel for the best use of the Rollei, and I think it is coming down to landscapes and portraits - the focus is super sharp when I pay diligent attention to it. I also shot three rolls on my F100 film camera and the pictures of course were tack sharp. Great camera with great lenses. But the Rollei is going to really shine with certain types of pix.

Musically, the newest is the KGSR Broadcasts Volume 14. I have the previous 13 issues so it is a given that I must continue. Year after year they produce a great collection, mostly recorded live in their studio, of the artists that make tracks through Austin. The collection this year got four stars from the statesman - so that is pretty high prraise. I have listened once and will hear it again today.

Time to dig out all the Christmas lights and put a little shine on the baretree yard. Cold weather is hanging around and making it feel like the season it is. We have Ella all weekend so at some point today we intend to find something she would enjoy. Maybe an afternoon at the Aramdillo Christmas thingie. Have to check out who is playing. Have I told you how much she digs music. The girl is a dancer - the music starts and she starts moving with a natural swing that has to be seen.

Hey, RiverDogs are raring to get going so I must do my duty. Out for now.
